| "Phoenix" was abandoned when his owners moved their trailer. He sat beside Hwy 170 for weeks, watching for them to come back for him. Seeing him starving, people began stopping to put out food for him. But the heavy traffic on Hwy 170 was a threat, and then a commercial "For Sale" sign went up on his patch of woods. Rescuer Karen Anderson spent weeks of patient work gaining Phoenix' trust, finally capturing him. Phoenix adjusted to life in a kennel and then moved to Maranatha Farm. His affectionate nature and free spirit were inspirational to everyone who met him. One night, Phoenix died in his sleep from unknown causes. |
